Potts Performance Horses, LLC offers both Western and English riding lessons for ages 6 and up and for all level riders. Our goal is to provide a safe and fun environment while learning the basics of horse care in addition to time in the saddle.   Lessons are by appointment only and can be with one of our school horses or you may choose to haul in your own.  Private and group lessons are available; please see descriptions below to see which option would suit you best.

LESSON DESCRIPTIONS:

Introduction to Horses:

This class is for ALL first time clients at Potts Performance Horses, LLC where we can establish which level you belong in.  For those remaining in this level, it will focus on the fundamentals of horse care which will include nutrition, grooming, saddling and unsaddling, anatomy, proper care of horse tack as well as the parts of the saddle, bridle, etc.  This class also includes riding time in the saddle. 

Intermediate Horsemanship:

This class is for those riders that have tested out of Introduction to Horses.  It will focus on taking that next step to building a more confident rider.  Here you will learn how to improve your horsemanship position while developing a better communication between you and your horse.  Your instructor will help teach you how to correctly position all parts of your horse's body for all gaits; walk, trot, lope and back.  You will also work on maneuvering through simple obstacle courses using minimal cues.

Advanced Horsemanship:

This class is for those riders that have tested out of Intermediate Horsemanship.  It will focus on perfecting the learned intermediate skills.  This class is for the serious rider that wishes to compete someday and even for those who do not, but hope to improve and perfect their communication skills with their horse.  This class will not only help you demonstrate advanced body positioning of your horse through different gaits, but will also include guiding your horse through advanced obstacle courses as well as horsemanship patterns. 

GROUP LESSONS- Consists of 2-4 riders ($45/hour with TR or $40/hour with Chloe) 

These lessons are 1 hour in length which includes approximately 45 minutes in the saddle.  They are offered at various times of the week.  (Please see schedule below)

PRIVATE LESSONS- one rider at a time ($75/hour)

These lessons are 1 hour in length which includes approximately 45 minutes in the saddle.  They are offered at times that work for both our instructors and clients.

         Please take note: 

• All riders must wear an approved riding helmet.  If you do not have one, they are available for purchase here, local tack shops and online.
• All riders must wear proper pants (jeans or breeches) and boots with heels.
• All riders should arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of their lesson.  Riders that arrive late will have that time deducted from their lesson.
• 24 hours cancellation notice is required for all lessons.
