PPH relocating to SC
Monday, October 8, 2012To my customers and friends-
First of all, we would like to say how difficult of a decision it was for us to even think about moving. Christine has lived in CT her whole life, and when she and I met in 1999, I decided to move to CT too. I started Potts Performance Horses in March, 2000 not knowing if starting a business there would work, or even scarier, if our relationship would work. I can honestly say, my loyal, hardworking, dedicated customers have been the main reason I was able to grow my business to be so successful. And my loving, supporting and encouraging wife has made me the luckiest man on this earth to have partnered with me to create such a beautiful family. So why am I moving? I want to let everyone know the many reasons why we have chosen to do so.
1) Cost of living. As many of you know, CT is one of the most, if not the number one most expensive states to live in. I want to be able to put more money away for my family instead of paying thousands in taxes every year. Property taxes in South Carolina are very low as well as the cost of living.
2) Location. We will be moving to Simpsonville, SC which is in Greenville County (the upper Northwest corner of South Carolina). We will be within 4 hours of an AQHA show.....EVERY week-end of the year.
3) Weather. The average annual snowfall for Simpsonville is 6 inches/year.....need I say more?
4) Schools. The school Alexis and Riley would attend is not only a "Blue Ribbon" school, but is a Red Carpet award winner the past couple of years as well. The schools are brand new, and participate in the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program. They also have many family involved programs and extra curricular activities that the schools here do not offer.
5) The future of our family. And honestly our number one reason, (not #5) is this is where we want to retire someday anyway....may as well do it now while we're young and while the kids are young too.
And the future of our business? That's where the unknown lies. I simply don't have that answer. Just like in 2000 when I drove to CT not knowing, the same is true here. I can only say I won't be doing it alone this time which makes it 100x easier.
And what about you....my customers? I will always have a spot open for you. You may choose to send your horse with me and meet me at all of the shows. We'll still be going to a lot of the same shows....Florida Gold Coast, March to the Arch, Virginia, Syracuse, Congress, World Show.....who knows, we may even drive up for the Regional show. But for those that can't, we can plan on sitting down together and discussing the best place for you to continue your success with your horse.
And what about when? I plan on updating you very often on the progress of the property we have purchased. Right now, it's just bare land. As we start building, we will post pictures. I promise you I will give you plenty of notice before we head south. As of right at this moment....you're still stuck with me. So let's make this promise together....to make 2013 the BEST year yet!!!
Sincerely,
TR
